The Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) is a cost of living support. It is provided by the Australian Government to assist students undertaking mandatory placements in accredited bachelor or master degrees in midwifery, nursing, social work and teaching.
The CPP aims to ensure students can complete their studies and enter the workforce—helping to address shortages in these sectors. UQ is an eligible higher education provider to deliver this payment. The CPP rate is set by the Australian Government, and the rate of payment is benchmarked to the
single Austudy rate
and indexed annually.
The CPP is available to eligible domestic students and provides a weekly allowance of about $338.60 in 2026.
